Tour the New Plymouth water or wastewater treatment plant

Join one of our knowledgeable guides behind the scenes at our water treatment plant or our wastewater treatment plant and find out how water and wastewater is treated.

Visiting New Plymouth’s treatment plants is a great way to gain an understanding of the processes involved and get an appreciation for the volume of water treated each day. It also highlights many of the challenges faced at the plants.

Water treatment plant

At the water treatment plant you will see how we treat water from the Waiwhakaiho river before it goes into the pipes and comes out your taps.

Wastewater treatment plant

At the wastewater treatment plant find out how we treat wastewater, like the water that comes from washing machines, toilets and showers.
