We are very proud to be one of the most accessible districts in New Zealand.
This guide and map shows mobility permit car parks, accessible walkways, toilets (single and unisex) and other accessible facilities including entertainment, accommodation and recreational facilities, public buildings, health centres, hospitals, post boxes, ATMs, information centres and shopping centres.
This is a low resolution version of the map suitable for reading online only. Copies of the map are available from the Civic Centre, i-SITE and the Taranaki Disabilities Information Centre Trust (28 Young Street) or please contact us and we'll post a large print version to you.
The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) develops protocols, guidelines and standards that ensure long-term growth and access to the web for all members of society. The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) ensure web content is accessible to people with disabilities. Websites are tested against criteria set at three levels - A, AA, and AAA.
