How sorted would you be if a disaster was to strike?

Statistics show that a very small percentage of our community are readily prepared with the essentials required to survive as comfortably as possible if and when a disaster was to strike. We are therefore making it our mission to help you and your family sort ya kit out!

Some things to include in your kit, you can personalise it with other items important to you:

Business Continuity Planning (BCP)

Disruptions are an expected part of business, so it’s important to be prepared for the worst-case scenario.

  • COVID-19 showed us that restricted site access, supply challenges, and labour shortages can very suddenly become the norm.
  • Disruptions are not just about global pandemics. You could suddenly face an IT failure or a long-term absence of a high-value team member.

Civil Defence text alerts

Taranaki Civil Defence manages a text alert system which will send a message to your phone in the event of an emergency. Find out more information about the text alerts here.

Hazard app

New Zealand Red Cross has teamed up with Civil Defence, GNS and MetService to help Kiwis make it safely through disasters.

The Hazard App sends you official warnings and alerts, tailored to your current and chosen locations, and contains step-by-step guides to help your household create an emergency plan and prepare getaway kits.

Information and disaster guides are also pre-loaded in the app so you have instant access, even without cell phone reception or an internet connection.

The app is available free from the App store and Google Play.
