Nau mai, haere mai, welcome to our resource consent information space!
Resource consents are usually required if you are carrying out work that may have an impact on the environment or neighbouring properties. A resource consent is a formal approval required if your proposal or activity doesn't comply with a rule/s of the New Plymouth District Plan or the Resource Management Act 1991 (RMA).
Your application will take up to 20 working days to process, provided the application does not require notification, and you have provided all the necessary information with your application.
Please be aware that the days from 20 December 2021 up to and including 10 January 2022 are considered non-working days. This may affect the processing time of your consent.
We provide a free Duty Planner service where you can speak to one of our planners who can provide direction on the District Plan and what rules may apply to your project. Contact us for more information.
Please also check information on our website regarding District Plan rules and provisions.
You will need to apply for a Resource Consent when an activity is not permitted by rules in our New Plymouth District Plan.
