This policy supports the purpose and intent of the Gambling Act 2003 with regard to the regulation and management of class 4 gambling venue premises. Class 4 gambling refers to gambling on gaming machines hosted in pubs, hotels and clubs.

The purpose of this policy is to minimise the harm caused by gambling in the New Plymouth District and to control the location of Class 4 gambling venues and the number of gaming machines.
