Climate response

Climate change has altered the way we think about our future. We’re committed to an urgent climate response and building a sustainable district.

Our Climate Action Framework looks at how to reduce our emissions by changing the way we do things, like introducing electric vehicles or LED streetlights, as well as how we adapt to the effects of climate change such as preparing for rising sea levels and coastal erosion.

We’re working to embed climate change into our operations and plans, and are planning community engagement to find out how we can better support the district to become a Sustainable Lifestyle Capital.

Current activities and initiatives include:

Planting our Place

We will help offset our emissions by planting 34 hectares of NPDC-owned land with native plants to improve biodiversity, meet carbon sequestration targets and create thriving natural environments for future generations.
