NPDC is replacing the water main in this area. The work will start on 6 March and will take place in stages for up to six months, but only the first three months will have traffic controls.

We are investing in our water network to increase our security of supply. The first project is the replacement of nearly half of Inglewood's pipes over three years.

The treatment plant is being upgraded to meet new, higher treatment standards. This includes installing two filters and two UV units to have full redundancy.

Urenui has a beautiful environment and we are working with the community to keep it that way. Unfortunately, monitoring of Urenui River has confirmed the presence of harmful bacteria from household wastewater systems in the area of the mud flats, prompting health warnings.

We are replacing nearly all of Urenui’s water pipes over the next 18 months. This is an important project to resolve Urenui’s long-standing issue of water pipes bursting and is part of NPDC’s $248m commitment to fix the plumbing in our district.

This programme of works addresses stormwater issues in Waitara, including flooding, degraded health of the waterways and lack of guidance for sustainable development.

A 12m section of the Waiwaka Terrace stormwater culvert’s concrete roof collapsed and a section beneath the road also showed signs of distress. This project is to repair and replace a 60m section of the culvert.

Water use in New Plymouth District is high. Part of NPDC’s water conservation programme includes adding water meters to all residential homes in New Plymouth District, as locals will be able easily see just how much water they use at home.
