An increased number of candidates are taking a stand across all wards and community boards for New Plymouth District Council in this year’s local body election.
When nominations closed on Friday 1 August, 82 nominations had been received, up from 77 in the last election.
Puketapu-Bell Block Board has been elected unopposed as four candidates were received for the four available positions.
A by-election is required to fill a vacancy on Kaitake and Clifton community boards with just three nominations for each. Another may be needed for Puketapu-Bell Block if one of the members is successful in their bid for a Councillor role.
