Preliminary election results see change in Kaitake-Ngāmotu Ward for NPDC

Preliminary results in the NPDC elections has seen EJ Barrett elevated to the council table. 

The results, which exclude special votes, sees Barrett, who replaces Bryan Vickery, join Gordon Brown, Graham Chard, Moira Irving George, Damon Fox and Kerry Vosseler as representatives of the Kaitake-Ngāmotu General Ward.

There are no other changes to those provisionally elected on Saturday which sees Max Brough as the new Mayor of New Plymouth District.  Other results are:

  • District-Wide Councillors (5). Murray Chong David Bublitz, John Woodward, Sam Bennett and Dinnie Moeahu.
  • Kohanga Mōa ward Councillor: Christine Fabish is provisionally elected.
  • North Ward Councillor: Gina Blackburn is provisionally elected.
  • Te Waka McLeod is provisionally elected to her second term as Te Purutanga Mauri Pūmanawa (Māori ward)​​​​ councillor.

The referendum to keep or remove our Māori ward in future elections sits at 14,760 to remove and 11,713 to keep.

Inglewood Community Board:  Provisionally elected are Christine Fabish, Donald McIntyre, Greg Robinson and Michael Self.

Waitara Community Board:  Trevor Dodunski, Te Waka McLeod, Joe Rauner and Dale Michielsen. 

NPDC Chief Executive Gareth Green congratulated the successful candidates.

“Thank you to everyone who ran in this year’s election and to those that took the time to vote. We’re looking forward to welcoming and working with all newly elected members.” 

The final results, which include special votes, will be announced next week – around 17 October.
