Over the Christmas/New Year holiday season, some of our facilities will be closed or have reduced hours.
Swimming alert at Fitzroy Beach
Please don’t swim or gather food at Fitzroy Beach.
Testing of the water at the beach by Taranaki Regional Council on 9 December returned elevated levels of the potentially-harmful bacteria.
We’re sorry this will inconvenience people hoping to spend the weekend at Fitzroy Beach.

Progress results in the NPDC local elections with Max Brough provisionally elected as the new Mayor of New Plymouth District.
Progress on the referendum to keep or remove our Māori ward in future elections sits at 10,889 to remove and 7880 to keep.
Inglewood Community Board: Provisionally elected are Christine Fabish, Donald McIntyre, Greg Robinson and Michael Self.
Waitara Community Board: Trevor Dodunski, Te Waka McLeod, Joe Rauner and Dale Michielsen.
NPDC Chief Executive Gareth Green congratulated the successful candidates.
“Thank you to everyone who ran in this year’s election and to those that took the time to vote. We’re looking forward to welcoming and working with all newly elected members.”
