There has been an overflow from the Inglewood oxidation ponds into the Kurapete Stream on Thursday afternoon (9 October).

The discharge started at about 9.02am and is ongoing. We are monitoring the discharge quality and conducting an investigation.

We’re sorry this occurred and we’ve been in touch with iwi and hapū, Taranaki Regional Council, the Taranaki District Health Board and other recreational users.

Warning signs have gone up advising people not to swim or gather kai (for 28 days) in affected areas.
