NPDC is responding to a wastewater overflow at a property on SH3a near Inglewood.
The discharge was reported today and is ongoing. Our team has responded and is currently cleaning and sanitising the site, and an investigation is underway as to when the discharge started and what caused it.
Warning signs against swimming will be erected at the Waiongana Stream mouth for 48 hours; warnings against collecting kai are already in place due to an MPI shellfish biotoxin alert.
We’re sorry this occurred and we’ve been in touch with iwi and hapū, Taranaki Regional Council, the Taranaki District Health Board and other recreational users.
Keep up with the latest information on the Can I Swim page on our website. We are investing $289m over 10 years to 2034 to fix the district’s plumbing.
