Heavy rainfall causes overflow

Heavy rainfall has caused a wastewater overflow on Konini Street, Inglewood, which has gone into a tributary of the Waiongana Stream.
The overflow began just before 2am today and is ongoing. NPDC’s team is currently sanitising the site.
We’re sorry this has occurred and we’ve been in touch with iwi and hapū, Taranaki Regional Council, and the Taranaki health authority.
Warning signs have gone up advising people not to swim or gather kai (for 28 days) in affected areas.

We are investing $248m over 10 years to fix the district’s plumbing.
