UPDATE - 12.30pm, Friday 4 July
Crews assessing damage and keeping watch following yesterday’s deluge which has caused widespread flooding across the district, impacting roads, parks and wastewater networks.
We’ve paused our involvement in the Tūparikino Active Community Hub Project (TACH) to review how it stacks up economically as global fiscal pressures mount.
Through our 2021-2031, 10-Year Plan, we decided to fund about a third of the total cost, with our share being about $40m capital expenditure and another $11m operation expenditure.
A further one third is being raised locally with the remaining third from the Government.
War in Europe is driving up prices and there is pressure on international supply chains and escalating inflation.
No decision has been made about the project.
We are just taking this time to crunch the numbers to make sure we’re investing each ratepayer dollar wisely, a normal practice on any major project.
