From 1 July 2025, a central government levy will apply to all registered food businesses.
The Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) is introducing a Food Business Levy for all registered food businesses under the Food Act 2014. This levy will come into effect on 1 July 2025, and the Council, as the registration authority, will be responsible for collecting it annually on behalf of MPI.
If your food business is registered with us, you will be charged the levy each year. New businesses will pay the levy upon registration, and then annually thereafter.

An additional cost of $11 (plus GST) will be included in addition to the above food business levy to cover Council administration costs.
