Got the winning shot? Enter our Welcome to New Plymouth photo competition

Got a photo that captures what makes New Plymouth special?

From dramatic coastal views and hidden local gems to iconic landmarks and everyday moments that show off our district, we’re looking for a standout image to welcome people into our city.

The winning photo will feature on the large gateway signs at Mangorei Road/Junction Road and Airport Drive/Devon Road that welcome visitors to our fabulous city and tell locals they are home.

Mayor Max will choose the winning image, with its photographer receiving a $500 gift card.

What you need to know:
  • The competition runs from 30 September to 5pm October 30, 2026.
  • The signs are large, 6mx4m so your photo must be high resolution, so it is crystal clear. Submitted photos must be in a higher resolution than 20MB.
  • Think about the composition of your photo. The signs include text. See template for guidance.

  • If you are including people in your image, it is your responsibility to ensure you have their permission and that they understand where the image may be used and for how long. See more about the licensing requirements in the Ts&Cs.

To enter, fill out the form below and upload your photo by 5pm, 30 October. The winner will be announced on the NPDC Facebook page in November.
