BIO
Taranaki photographic artist Tania Niwa is a Grand Master of Photography, based in her home city of Ngāmotu New Plymouth. A descendant of Te Ātiawa, Taranaki, Ngāruahine and Ngāti Ruanui, her work is deeply connected to the people, environment, culture and unique identity of Taranaki. After building a 25-year career in Sydney, working with families, corporate and commercial clients, Tania’s dream was to return home. Over the last decade, she has transitioned her business back to Taranaki where she has been primarily based since the global lockdowns. Tania specialises in documentary storytelling, business branding, portraiture, fine art and aerial photography. She works alongside iwi, organisations, businesses and communities to create imagery that is genuine, engaging and enduring.
