Proposal of minor changes to parking controls across the district.

We're proposing minor changes to parking controls across the district to improve safety, accessibility and the efficient use of on-street parking.

As part of our ongoing management of the district's road network, we are proposing several minor changes to parking restrictions and controls at locations across New Plymouth and Bell Block.

The proposed changes include:

·       Changing two bays of unrestricted parking to mobility parking on Huatoki Street near Vogeltown School and adjoining No31 Huatoki St

·       Changing two bays of unrestricted parking to mobility parking on and Mangorei Road near Mangorei School, north of school crossing on west side of Mangorei Rd

·       Installing a new mobility parking area at Bell Block Beach Carpark.

·       Creating new No stopping areas at Audrey Gale Reserve,

·       Creating new No stopping areas at Egmont Road near the intersection with Hurlstone Drive,

·       Creating new No stopping areas around the turning head on Oakwood Drive.

·       Extending an existing No stopping area on Ridge Lane, adjoining 19 Ridge Lane

·       Creating time-restricted parking areas (P5 and P120) on Fillis Street near Pukekura Park gates.

·       Changing an unrestricted parking space to a P10 Loading Zone on Devon Street West near the  Blagdon Shops.

·       Changing an unrestricted parking space to a P10 Loading Zone on Lemon Street near the YMCA.

 

Any person wishing to provide written feedback on these proposals should do so before 2 October 2026 by emailing enquiries@npdc.govt.nz. All feedback received will be considered and included in a report to Mayor and Councillors before a final decision is made at the New Plymouth District Council meeting on 29 October 2026.
