NPDC has answered a call from community leaders wanting more access to courses to improve their leadership skills and capabilities - subsiding a limited number of tickets to a professional development conference in New Plymouth later this year.

In 2023 NPDC sought feedback from community groups on how we could better support them, with groups requesting more capability development courses for leaders of non-profits, sporting clubs and community organisations.

The Tonic Conference is on at the Plymouth Hotel, 7-8 November and will feature several keynote speakers and workshops focusing on leadership, management, fundraising, marketing, and volunteering.

NPDC's Manager Community and Economic Development Damien Clark says having the conference here in Taranaki is an excellent opportunity for groups to gain insightful knowledge and network with community leaders from around the country.

"This is one of the best community sector conferences in the country and with many feeling the pinch of financial pressures, we have offered subsidised tickets for our community groups," said Damien Clark.

"Bringing events like this to New Plymouth helps our community groups to grow and learn to contribute towards a Sustainable Lifestyle Capital where everyone thrives."

"Not only does bringing a conference like this to New Plymouth save money on travel and accommodation costs for our community organisations, but the first 30 tickets will be half price for New Plymouth district residents working for locally-based community groups."

This offer is limited to one per group.

Early bird tickets are available until 31 August with standard tickets going on sale from 1 September. Early bird ticket details here.
