Changes to bus stops

We're proposing changes to bus stops to align with Taranaki Regional Council's (TRC) updated bus routes, launching April 2026. Find out what stops are proposed to change.

Taranaki Regional Council is gearing up for the first stage of improvements to the region’s bus network, set to roll out in April 2026 as part of its long-term plan to make public transport in Taranaki simpler, more reliable and better connected.

As a result of these changes, NPDC, which is responsible for providing and maintaining bus stops, has reviewed the location of bus stops in our district.

It means some stops will be removed, relocated or new ones installed.

We are also looking to standardise when stops are active to between 7am and 8pm, Monday-Saturday. This would mean that the majority would be available for on street parking outside these hours.

While letters have been sent to properties near bus stop locations proposed to change as they will be most impacted, we welcome feedback from anyone.  Your feedback will help inform a report to Mayor and Councillors, to make a final decision.
