Swimming alert at Fitzroy Beach

Please don’t swim or gather food at Fitzroy Beach.

Testing of the water at the beach by Taranaki Regional Council on 9 December returned elevated levels of the potentially-harmful bacteria.

We’re sorry this will inconvenience people hoping to spend the weekend at Fitzroy Beach.

Thank you to everyone who responded to our District-Wide Road Safety Review. This feedback has helped us prioritise our list of minor safety improvements on our roads.

In the next stage of this project, we will work on increasing road safety by reviewing speed limits on certain roads – a process that will require public feedback. This work will take place later this year after the NZ Transport Agency has determined the process for changing speed limits on both state highways (which are managed by NZTA) and local roads (which are managed by city and district councils).
