Temporary Road Closure: National Pipe Band Championships

In accordance with the Transport (Vehicular Traffic Road Closure) Regulations 1965, the following roads will be closed to ordinary vehicular traffic to enable Royal NZ Pipe Bands Association to conduct the National Pipe Band Championships.

Date and period of closure: 8am to 12pm on Saturday 21 March 2026.

Roads to be closed:

·          James Street.

·          Carrington Street.

·          Elliot Street.

Emergency vehicles will have unrestricted access at all times.

The roads may be reopened at an earlier time as decided by the organisers upon removal of all road closure signs and barriers at the venue. The roads will then be open to normal vehicle traffic and normal traffic regulations will apply.

It is an offence under the above regulations to drive on the closed roads during the period outlined above, unless authorised to do so by the event organiser.

In all other situations requiring the use of the roads, contact must be made with the traffic management coordinators on-site, on the day. Alternative routes will be available and signposted.
