Temporary Road Closure Waitara Night Markets Christmas at the Awa

In accordance with the Transport (Vehicular Traffic Road Closure) Regulations 1965, the following roads will be closed to ordinary vehicular traffic to enable He Rau Oranga Trust to conduct the Waitara Night Markets Christmas at the Awa.

Date and period of closure: 12pm to 10pm on Saturday 6 December 2025.

Roads to be closed:

·          West Quay from Whitaker Street to McLean Street.

·          Wrights Lane between Courthouse Lane and West Quay.

Emergency vehicles will have unrestricted access at all times.

The roads may be reopened at an earlier time as decided by the organisers upon removal of all road closure signs and barriers at the venue. The roads will then be open to normal vehicle traffic and normal traffic regulations will apply.

It is an offence under the above regulations to drive on the closed roads during the period outlined above, unless authorised to do so by the event organiser.

In all other situations requiring the use of the roads, contact must be made with the traffic management coordinators on-site, on the day. Alternative routes will be available and signposted.
