Blockage causes overflow
There has been a wastewater overflow into Te Henui Stream.
The overflow lasted just over three hours, starting at 4.25pm on Saturday 25 June, and was caused by a blockage in a Council sewer pipe. The blockage has been cleared and the site has been cleaned and sanitised. Investigations into the cause are currently underway.
A warning against collecting seafood has been placed at the mouth of Te Henui Stream.
We’re sorry these have occurred and as with all overflows, we’ve been in touch with iwi and hapū, Taranaki Regional Council, the Taranaki District Health Board and other recreational users.
Keep up with the latest information on the Can I Swim page.
