Heavy rainfall causes overflow

Prolonged heavy rainfall has caused two sewage overflows from the wastewater network in Inglewood.
There was a wastewater overflow from a manhole in Konini Street Inglewood yesterday which has gone into a tributary of the Waiongana Stream
In addition, there has been a consented discharge of partially treated wastewater from the Inglewood Oxidation Ponds to the Kurapete Stream overnight.
We’re sorry this has occurred, and we’ve been in touch with iwi and hapū, Taranaki Regional Council, Te Whatu Ora (previously TDHB) and other recreational users.
Warning signs have gone up advising people not to swim or gather kai (for 28 days) in affected areas.

We are investing $248m over 10 years to fix the district’s plumbing.
