NPDC is making changes such as reducing electricity and natural gas use at our wastewater facilities, replacing our fleet vehicles with hybrids and electric vehicles, and using LED streetlights to reduce our carbon emissions.

LED streetlights

Introducing LED streetlights, reducing carbon emissions by 6,000 tonnes and saving more than $6.5 million in electricity over the next 20 years.

Internal improvements

Making a number of internal changes such as improving the Wastewater Treatment Plant and wastewater pump stations to significantly reduce electricity and natural gas use.

Electric vehicles

We are replacing our fleet vehicles with hybrids and electric vehicles as we renew them in order to reduce our fuel use.
