Wai Hononga is New Plymouth District's dedicated water services organisation, established to focus solely on drinking water and wastewater services.
As a council-controlled organisation(CCO) owned by New Plymouth District Council, Wai Hononga has been created to help ensure these essential services remain safe, reliable, and sustainable for current and future generations.
Wai Hononga is currently being established and is expected to commence operations on 1 July 2027. Until then, New Plymouth District Council will continue to provide drinking water and wastewater services while we prepare for the transition.
