Wai Hononga Water Services Limited

Safe, reliable water and wastewater services for the New Plymouth District

We deliver drinking water you can trust and wastewater services that protect our environment. Our team monitors quality continuously and acts fast if something goes wrong - because safe water is essential for public health and daily life.

Report a fault · Check outages · Water meters · Get Connected

For unplanned work, we aim to respond quickly and restore service as soon as possible; if an interruption extends, we’ll provide access to safe water nearby (e.g., tanker or bottled water).

Service status

See current outages and planned works, restoration ETAs, and any alternate‑water locations. If you have no water or see a major leak or wastewater overflow, call us 24/7. We’ll prioritise urgent issues that affect health, safety or service continuity.

What you can do right now

  • Check for leaks at home (simple overnight meter test and appliance checks). Fixing private leaks reduces bills and conserves water.
  • Use water wisely - small changes help ensure supply during peak demand. (NPDC data shows demand reductions from conservation and metering).

Spotlight: Water meters

Universal metering is being rolled out across the district. Meters have already helped find and fix significant leaks, deferring planned capital upgrades and saving money for our community. You can check your property’s meter status and learn how to read your meter and spot leaks. Mock billing is planned before volumetric charging begins, so households can understand use and fix leaks first.

Our promise

We operate under national laws and standards for drinking water quality and network performance, publish our results, and continuously improve our service.
