Wai Hononga's leadership team is currently being established ahead of operations commencing on 1 July 2027. The Chief Executive is responsible for the day-to-day management of the organisation and leading its transition to full operations.

Brent Manning brings extensive experience in municipal water infrastructure, local government leadership, and public sector governance to the Taranaki region.
Appointed to lead New Plymouth District Council’s newly established water services organisation, Brent oversees the strategic management and delivery of critical water and wastewater networks. His career spans key regional and international roles, including serving as a Council Interface Manager for New Zealand’s water services reform programmes and as the establishment Chief Executive of To Tatou Vai in the Cook Islands.
Locally, Brent spent nearly two decades in both water and wastes engineering for New Plymouth District Council and as Engineering Services Group Manager for the South Taranaki District Council.
