Paying it forward

It’s easy to get caught up dealing with the here and now, but a key focus of this plan is thinking ahead and creating a legacy for future generations.

  • Is $9m to upgrade our free Brooklands Zoo to meet central government standards worth it?
  • Is $16.3m to upgrade the ageing Bellringer Pavilion in Pukekura Park the way to go to ensure we get to see world class cricket on our doorstep?
  • Should we invest $35m to build a new indoor stadium with at least four courts, as part of a lower cost Tūparikino Active Community hub project?
  • Should we explore other ways to deliver water, traffic management and housing for the elderly by organisations entities at arm’s length of Council?

Other ways we are proposing to pay it forward:

  • Additional funding for community partnerships
  • Additional funding for community boards
  • Housing for the elderly
  • Implementing the New Plymouth Ngāmotu City Centre Strategy
  • Te Tiriti partnerships.
