Voting opens on Tuesday 9 September 2025 and closes at noon on Saturday 11 October 2025.
In New Zealand, all local body elections are held by postal vote. If you enrolled before 1 August, you can expect to get your voting packs in the mail between Tuesday 9 September 2025 and Monday 22 September 2025. The voting period is Tuesday 9 September to noon Saturday 11 October 2025.
Post your completed voting documents back to the electoral officer using the orange pre-paid envelope sent with your voting document, or visit a polling place. If you are posting your voting documents back, it is recommended to do this 5pm Friday 7 October 2025 to guarantee delivery before voting closes.
To be counted, all completed voting documents must be in the hands of the electoral officer or an electoral official by noon Saturday 11 October 2025.

You may also be eligible to vote if you live outside of the New Plymouth district but pay rates on a property in the New Plymouth district.
Progress results will be announced in the afternoon on election day, Saturday 11 October 2025. Preliminary results will be known on Sunday 12 October 2025, and final results will be known on Friday 17 October 2025.
