Making Life Better for You
Community is at the heart of local government and advocating for the people of this district is what I am passionate about.
Our council has the capability to make the lives of residents good ones. But it needs the right leadership - one that listens, is transparent about decision-making and spending, makes pragmatic, smart decisions, and puts people first.
I have proven capability from my time served at both local and national local government level, and the grit that comes from being a small business owner and parent that means I can step up and make sure that all your voices are clearly heard at the Council table.
You want what I want - the right affordable decisions to be made for the right reasons - to make living in this beautiful place better.

What?
Anyone who promises to reduce rates is either misinformed or disingenuous. Rates reductions are not possible in the climate of inflation and addressing an infrastructure deficit. Funding mechanisms are inadequate and need fixing through central govt.

NPDC is a vital partner in stimulating the economy. We don't need to do more, but act with a more vision and purpose. I'd support investigating how we can contribute through our own business units and support home based micro enterprise.

Let's be aspirational for those sleeping without decent shelter. A cohesive & partnership based Vision would be my focus-I would like to see a declared crisis & a zero tolerance that any of our people are living without warmth & security.

Long term it is clear the Government is unlikely to allow us to continue in-house, so do it now, do it well and ensure we have a fit for purpose expert CCO that is accountable and able to focus on delivering the upgrades & affordable maintenance.

The climate is changing-and this is impacting through slow erosion, changed weather patterns and its impacts, emergencies & catastrophic events. We need to front foot it, be prepared through solid policy, fund reserves & using nature based solutions.

I would have voted against this on the basis of the price tag. I believe we should have examined what existing infrastructure we could have renovated or expanded, to help create a district wide recreational and sporting network.

Separated cycleways keep riders safer, encourage people to cycle, reduce congestion, cut emissions, and create healthier, connected communities. They’re an investment in safety, sustainability, and liveable streets. BUT we have to get them right!

Māori wards are no different from any other ward, they simply ensure fair representation. They’re Tiriti-based, not race-based, giving effect to our founding partnership and ensuring Māori voices are part of local decision-making.
If we can do so using cost neutral levers, then of course! Events bring in fun, excitement and business opportunities, as well as promoting economic and social growth.
-Open council up through clear, easy to understand messaging about the important issues and meeting agendas. This includes ensuring elected members are available & working for their community. -Tackle our social issues including limiting rates rises.
