I'm Kerry Vosseler, a third generation business owner, who built and ran Chaos Cafe for 20 years, with hard work, integrity and financial savy.
As a ratepayer myself, I know the sting of rising rates and the frustration of seeing our money spent on frivolous projects while core services are neglected. I'm running for NPDC to represent you, the ratepayers.
My priorities are clear: Lets rein in excesses in spending, refocus priorities, maintaing community facilities over flashy, wasteful projects & restore trust in council. With my proven track record of balancing the books and serving our community, I'll fight for your hard earned money, serving Ratepayers before political interests.
Vote Kerry Vosseler to put Ratepayers first. Your voice for real change.

Yes.
I would halt the Sports Hub project & Waitara cycleway, to see if the benefits outweigh the outrageous rates rises that have been imposed on NP Ratepayers. I would also look at where services can be merged to cut costs.

NPDC needs to ensure that the community is business friendly, in order to attract industry, support & purchase from local businesses, and implement business programs from mentors who have proven financial acumen.

Mental health services are beyond NPDC’s purview. Local charities and Māori support organisations should be approached for help. Most rough sleepers have mental health issues that need professional intervention.

Water delivery, sewerage & stormwater should be kept in house, and money directed to maintenance of current services. $24 million spend on water meters could have paid for a lot of infrastructure. Once gone we will never get control of water back.
No.
The climate has been changing for millennia. Nothing NPDC can do, short of maintaining clear waterways and drains, will affect the outcome. Ensure all building sites are not paved over.

This sports concept has not had a completed feasibility study completed before commencement. The plans for this sports hub have not been properly costed or managed, leading to huge cost blowouts, discarded concept plans wasted money.

The disruption caused by these unused cycleways has been massive, they are dangerous to both cyclists and road users. Council should never have accepted money from Central Government without full consultation with the public.

The Treaty of Waitangi promised equal citizenship to all residents of NZ. No race-based policy has ever benefited society as a whole.
TAFT does a brilliant job of running events in NP District. We need to look at encouraging more mid-range entertainers, etc to create benefits across New Plymouth. Len Lye should be used for mid-level exhibitions to cover running costs, or be closed.
Rates reductions and caps are a top priority or ratepayers in NP District, the other issue is to attract business and promote entrepreneurial thinking around the Council table. Expensive projects need to be halted.
