Hi There, I'm Greg, I am born and raised in Taranaki, and have lived in the Inglewood district for the past 15 years with my wife and kids.
I grew up on a dairy farm and later moved into town with my family. Once I finished school I did a building apprenticeship and became a qualified builder. After 10 years in this trade I changed jobs and decided to give shift working a go, 17 years later I'm still there.
I believe that the knowledge I have gained in Pre Planning, Budgets and infrastructure through both of these careers would go well on the Inglewood Community Board and would help with any future upgrades for the Inglewood District.
Inglewood has a lot of great businesses and I would like to see more of them get the opportunity to be involved in the continuous maintenance and also upgrades of our District.
Yes
What?
I would like to focus on roads and infrastructure first to make sure that the district is getting great quality core essentials for their rates payments, while removing any borrowing for the nice to have projects will help reduce rate increases
Yes
What?
Lower the cost of parking in the main CBD, with free parking out at the Valley people find it easier to head out that way and stay away from the main street which doesn't help the main street shops
Yes
Why?
They put a budget and plan together to get an area at the YMCA for rough sleeping which is great but personally i don't think that was the best building for this project, not with the facilities in the YMCA and all the children that use it.
No
Why?
i believe that the NPDC should have had better planning on this, When you know the town is growing you need to match that with the correct infrastructure. This is where i can use my knowledge to help the Inglewood Community Board
No
Why?
Our country is already one of the greenist countries in the world, If NPDC wanted to improve on this they could use more sustainable/recyclable products in community projects were possible and budget effective Any improvement is better than none.
No
Why?
$50 million seems excessive for the finished project, with rates already increasing by well over 10% and the over runs on other big projects over the last term i would hope that this construction price is locked in to eliminate future over runs
No
Why?
The ones that were built look low budget and last minute, it makes the road very narrow and has proving difficult for emergency services Could a bylaw/legislation been changed to trial painted lines on the footpath instead?

As a potential councillor i beleive we should all be 100% neutral on matters like this, if i became a councillor i would let the community decide this
