Hi, my name is Shaun Clare, I'm a local business owner for over 10 years. My strengths are being a very vocal voice at the table, when it comes to things I am passionate about. To enable me to be your voice, I need that seat around the table. I would like to see the focus of money spent on the core infrastructure, and get the rate rises in check.
Ideally, I would like to see where the money is currently spent and help the community by making improvements on how best to spend the money. I know there is a lot the council can do internally with better practices to minimise the rate rises. Look for me on Facebook. Vote for Shaun if you want to see some changes.
Yes
What?
Yes, but to make a decision on that I would need access to where the money is going - so I need eyes and ears in-house to see where the mismanagement lies. I would like to see options of putting money towards vanity projects vs forcing everyone.

What?
I think a whole revamp of the rating system needs to be looked at - especially commerically - the commercial / business sector are what keeps the place alive. We need to start investing in local business rather than outside the area businesses.
No
Why?
Throwing money at a situation like this does not fix this - it just moves it, the underlying issues are still there. It will not fix the issues of homeless harassing the people on the main street. Contact the families of the homeless.

Why?
More layers of bureaucracy has never helped anything ever in the history of man. We have had a succession of the wrong people in management. Get the right people making the decisions.

I think the hub is need, however I think they needed to raise the money for such wants externally, not forced it on the people that are already struggling. For debt to grow to 425 Million in such a short space of time, something needs to change
No
Why?
It's not safer in my opinion.

The interests of Maori is very important to this country, and should always be a seat available. It's actually more cost effective to have a voice at the table that represent maori - than it is to go through court cases when maori weren't involved.
That's for the events team - my question would be what are they currently doing and come up with other suggestions, like working in with other promoters in the industry. Creating our own local events, with local talent that the country can attend
Finding out where the money is disappearing to, and resolving those obvious issues the council has. Thinking of EVERYBODY not just those that can afford it. ( A rating system overhaul )
