I understand infrastructure and am an engineer with over 30 years' experience at major engineering firms in Taranaki, throughout NZ and internationally.
I have a track record of identifying project savings by examining the evidence including looking at energy efficient solutions that decrease operating costs while improving our environment. I have worked on water infrastructure, electricity networks as well as industrial and commercial projects including generation and gas.
I have developed resilience strategies to protect assets from extreme weather, and other potentially catastrophic events.
However New Plymouth District is more than pipes and roads. I want a place where we continue to find joy whether it is the surf, the mountain, the pools, the community sportsfields, the glorious parks, the gorgeous walkway, Len Lye or the wonderful events that come here.
I have a passion for our place, and the experience that it takes to serve as your councillor.

What?
We should look at procurement processes, good project management and well written contracts to prevent cost over runs. We must ensure our place does not become scungy and dull.
Yes
What?
We need to work with organisations such as our CCO Venture Taranaki to attract businesses and ensure our place is vibrant and an inviting place to be. Maybe we should expand adventure tourism as well?
Why?
I support the initiative to help the YMCA in establishing a shelter for rough sleepers, we most probably need to do more but it is a good start.
Yes
Why?
The CCO should provide long term planning, focus on water services delivery and sustainability of our water infrastructure by the separation from short term council decision-making. It still needs oversight by NPDC and must be 100% publicly owned.
Yes
Why?
Extreme weather events are becoming more frequent and we must be prepared to protect our assets, houses and livelihoods.

It is important that people have the option to get around by cycling without being killed. Any real issues with the new cycle way can and should be fixed. Once upon a time kids had the freedom to cycle to school, sports etc., let's restore that.

Why?
It is really important to have Māori representation on the council everybody still only gets one vote for our council.
Leverage off events such as WOMAD, Matatini. Have diverse type of events.
We look for efficiencies that enhance the delivery of our services while keeping within budget. Make sure that our place is a great place to live, work and play.
